We are working hard to minimise disruption to our services as a result of the coronavirus situation. However, in some cases services may be disrupted due to staff absence or official advice from the government.

Engagement and Support (Housing Options) team 

Our Engagement and Support Team can provide you with information, assistance and advice to help you to resolve your housing situation if you are at risk of homelessness.

If you would like to talk to our Engagement and Support officers about your current housing situation, our telephone line is open from 8.30am to 5.00pm Mon-Thurs and 8.30am to 4.30pm on a Friday. For genuine emergency homelessness outside of office hours, customers should telephone 01252 622122 when further information will be given about contacting our out-of-hours service supplier. Please note that this service may be under pressure in the current situation. 

Rough sleeping and homelessness

Coronavirus (C0VID-19) affects everyone in our community, especially the most vulnerable. We will continue to work closely with partners to support people who are homeless or rough sleeping in our district.

If you see a person you believe may be rough sleeping you can report in two ways:

  • Contact the Engagement and Support team directly via emailing housing@hart.gov.uk or call 01252 774239
  • Report via Streetlink, the national rough sleeper reporting line (you can also download an app) or call 0300 500 0914

If the person needs urgent medical attention or you have a concern for welfare, please dial 999 for an ambulance or police.

We will continue to offer emergency assistance and advice to anyone rough sleeping in Hart. Homelessness assessments will generally be undertaken by telephone.

Lettings service

We have continued to keep this service running with minimal disruption so far and it is continually under review. Properties will be advertised where available. 

Submitting documents 

If you have been asked to provide any documents, these should be scanned or photographed and sent to housing@hart.gov.uk; if you are unable to do this, we may extend the time you have to provide documentation or, alternatively, they can be dropped off at the Civic Offices.

Paying your rent or mortgage 

If you are having difficulties paying your rent, please contact your landlord in the first instance.

The government has announced measures to prevent loss of accommodation due to rent arrears if they have arisen because of the impact of the coronavirus situation.

If you are having difficulties paying your mortgage, please contact your mortgage lender. The government has advised that mortgage holidays can be taken during this period which will need to be agreed with your lender.
