Art competition to celebrate the Queen

On Friday the 3 June, Hart District Council launched an art competition for secondary school students to take part in to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The theme will be The Queen’s Reign and entries are welcome to be traditional or contemporary. The winner of the competition will be invited to the Council Offices where their artwork will be displayed as a mural on the side of the Civic Office building in Harlington Way.

Speaking about the competition, Cllr Jane Worlock, Chairman of Hart District Council, said: "I’m delighted to officially launch this competition during the special Platinum Jubilee extended Bank Holiday. We wanted to create a piece of artwork that would celebrate the Queen’s reign and be a symbol of our appreciation of her dedication. This competition aims to showcase some of the best artistic talent we have in the district, and I look forward to judging the submissions.”

All entries should be submitted to the council and will be judged by the Chairman at the end of the Summer with the mural produced and installed in the Autumn.

The council will be contacting all secondary schools in Hart to take part in this amazing opportunity to leave a legacy to celebrate the Queen’s long reign.

If your school is interested in taking part, please email Hart Countryside Service on countryside@hart.gov.uk
