Small Business Saturday 2 December 2023

We’re encouraging residents to support Small Business Saturday and offering free parking on Saturday 2 December in all Council car parks.

The Council is once again taking part in this national campaign by waiving car parking charges on Saturday 2 December to encourage everyone to ‘shop local’ and support local businesses. The free parking is available between 8am and midnight in all available Hart District Council car parks. A list of included car parks can be found on our parking pages.

Please note if visiting Fleet town centre, that Gurkha Square car park hosts Fleet Market every Saturday and is closed from midnight on Saturday morning until the market is cleared in late afternoon. You can still enjoy free parking in Gurkha Square in the evening to visit the bars and restaurants of Fleet. If visiting the market, the other nearby Council car parks will be free of charge to park for the day.

Small businesses play a vital role in Hart’s economy and across the UK. Now entering its second decade in the UK, Small Business Saturday’s mission is to support and celebrate the UK’s millions of small businesses, particularly as they face mounting economic challenges over the winter.

With small firms facing huge challenges due to the cost-of-living crisis, the campaign is more vital than ever. When you shop from local retailers you benefit your community, and there has never been a better time to support them. Could you look at purchasing gifts from local retailers or enjoying a meal at one of Hart’s excellent independent cafes or restaurants this Small Business Saturday?

By supporting the campaign Hart District Council aims to support local businesses, positively enhance the economic climate during these difficult times, and strengthen town and village centres, creating a vibrant and lively future.
