Exciting plans to transform play areas and exercise spaces in Fleet and Riseley have taken a major step forward this week with funding released from Hart District Council.
The Council has been working hard alongside developers as part of the planning process to ensure that invaluable community projects are funded to balance the impacts of new development.
Known as S106 agreements, they ensure developer contributions for facilities and infrastructure as identified by local communities.
The improvements will see a new £12,000 Trim Trail obstacle course in Oakley Park, Fleet, managed by Fleet Town Council.
Councillor Paul Einchomb, Chairman of the Recreation, Leisure and Amenities Committee at Fleet Town Council, said: “We are very keen to promote the health and wellbeing of all age groups from toddlers through to adults and the installation of this much-needed Trim Trail will provide facilities that support these aims and encourage enjoyment of the outdoors.”
The second project is a £20,000 upgrade of the children's play area, tennis club and sports pavilion in Riseley Park. The S106 funding was received from the developers of housing in nearby Odiham Road which is within Hart district but affects the Riseley community.
Councillor David Neighbour, Leader of Hart District Council, said: “I am delighted that S106 funding is bringing community benefits to these areas for families to enjoy. We know how important physical exercise is for people’s overall health and wellbeing and these projects are great examples of how developer contributions can improve residents’ quality of life.”
