On the eve of Armed Forces Day, we’re proud to announce Hart has been awarded a Silver Certificate in the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme. It recognises our commitment to supporting members of the Armed Forces community, both within our organisation and in the services we provide.

The award acknowledges our work with military personnel, their families, veterans and reservists, ensuring they are treated fairly and with respect. This follows on from our Bronze Certificate, awarded in 2018.

Councillor Chris Dorn, Armed Forces Champion at the Council, said: “We're proud of our historic connections with the Armed Forces in Hart. Service personnel, past and present, and their families are all important members of our community and we’re thrilled that our work has been recognised with this Silver award.

“It’s fitting that tomorrow is Armed Forces Day when the public show their support and appreciation of the Armed Forces community. We will do all we can to ensure they are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged in their daily lives through their service, past and present.”

Daryl Phillips, Council CEO, said: “I would like to congratulate Councillor Dorn and Armed Forces Covenant Officer Di Murdoch for their tireless work in helping the Council achieve this important Silver award. They have helped us embed support for the Armed Forces in all our services, recognising the value that military personnel and their families contribute to our country.”

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. The scheme encompasses Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the Armed Forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
