We are thrilled to announce that the Ministry of Defence has presented Hart District Council with a Silver Employer Recognition Scheme award as part of our ongoing support for the armed forces.

The Council’s Armed Forces Covenant Officer Di Murdoch and Councillor Chris Dorn, Armed Forces Champion, collected the award at a ceremony at Admiralty House, HMNB Portsmouth, this week. It was presented by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mr Nigel Atkinson.

Hart is proud of our strong military history and important connections with the reservist and regular forces communities, having gained a Bronze award in 2018.

The national Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, will be treated fairly and will not be disadvantaged in accessing public and commercial services as a result of their military service.

Councillor Dorn said: “Being recognised with this award is a fantastic achievement which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our serving personnel and veterans. This has been due to the support, energy, and dedication regularly shown by all staff members within the Council.

“We are committed to our Armed Forces community, not only as a Defence Employer, recognising the valuable transferable skills service Armed Forces personnel can bring to the workforce, but also in providing services to meet the needs of those who serve, who have served and their families.”
