Fleet

Church Road car park - Mature copper beech tree felling - 27-28 January 2025

Works will last approximately two days. The parking bays in the area around the tree will be closed off whilst these works take place, so please use alternative areas of the car park during this time.

Two large mature copper beech trees, situated in Church Road car park, Fleet are regularly monitored due to their location, closely adjacent to properties in a busy area with traffic, parking and pedestrians.

In the summer of 2024 it was noted that the foliage of the beech closest to Church Court had significantly declined in health. A further inspection later that year showed fruiting bodies from a root-decaying fungus as well as fruiting bodies of a second fungus that affects leaf health. The overall physiological condition of the tree is now very low.

Management options other than felling were considered to avoid the removal of this tree. Through consultation with other tree professionals, it was decided that due to safety concerns and the associated high risk, the best course of action is for the tree to be removed.
