The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) give you the right to request any written or recorded information we hold.

You must give:
- a description of the information you require
- your real name
- a return address (an email address is sufficient)
- a daytime telephone number so we can contact you easily if we need to speak to you about your request.
If you want to know about personal information we hold about you, you'll need to make subject access request.
After you've made your request
We'll acknowledge receipt after you've made a request. You should receive an answer within 20 working days, but sometimes it may take longer depending on the nature of the request. Please go to the Information Commissioner's website for more details about what you can expect from us.
In some cases, we might be unable to share information in order to protect certain interests. We'll tell you why if we withhold information for these reasons.
About requesting information from us

If the information that you are looking for relates to the environment, it is handled under the Environmental Information Regulations rather than the Freedom of Information Act. The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 give everyone access to information held by Hart District Council that relates specifically to the environment, including the state of water, air, animals and plant life across the district.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, we may charge you for providing the information requested. We’ll give you details of the charges once you've made a request.
