Help paying your bills

This is an annual grant to help older people, those born before 25 September 1957, and those on certain benefits, pay their heating bills. It offers a one-off, tax-free payment of between £100 and £300, though the Government increased this to up to £600 to help with the cost of energy. Please check if you are eligible by 21 December 2024.

Winter Fuel Payment is usually automatically paid if you receive the State Pension or another social security benefit (but not Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Child Benefit or Universal Credit). If you qualify but have not received an automatic payment, you will need to make a claim.
