Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan

New proposals for a network of cycle and walking routes across the district

We have produced the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) with Hampshire County Council to help increase the number of trips made on foot or by cycle in and around the district.

Walking and cycling, instead of taking the car, is the healthy choice, reduces pollution and helps tackle climate change.

The LCWIP gives us a strategic, district-wide plan and an indication of the improvements needed. The plan shows the primary and secondary cycle routes across Hart and the core walking zones.

For each route/zone, the plan highlights key barriers to walking and cycling and suggests possible improvements.

We will use this plan to:

  • show where our existing cycling and walking networks are and describe where we can improve them
  • help us to develop future cycling and walking networks across Hart
  • help us secure funding and/or section 106 planning application contributions towards cycling and walking

The Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) was adopted by the Council in March 2024 and will be adopted by Hampshire County Council shortly.

Once this has happened, the LCWIP will be formally published.
